The Indian Idol judge will be the only one to critique performances on Zee’s new show
It’s been the norm so far to have three judges for any reality show – whether it’s Indian Idol, X Factor India or Just Dance. Zee’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs has four judges. That way, you can believe that there is some level of impartiality. So it was quite surprising tolearn that Anu Malik will be the only judge on Zee’s new reality show, Star Ya Rockstar. Especially when the show will have television actors as the contestants. Sumeet Raghavan, Sachin Pilgaonkar, Mansi Parekh, Manish Paul, Ragini Khanna, Neha Marda and Chhavi Mittal have been signed on. Yet, the veteran musician will solely critique the actors showing off their singing skills. Ask him how he can ensure impartiality and he shoots back, “I believe I get impartiality by telling the truth. I judge with my heart and my head. The most important thing about the show is that I am the sole judge.” That’s definitely the most important thing for him – he no longer has to share the limelight with others like Sonali Bendre, Sunidhi Chauhan or Javed Akhtar. But then, who are we to say anything? The contestants don’t seem to have any problem with him being the only judge. Sachin explained, “We feel Anuji is capable of judging us, as he is born in the industry. We learn from different people in our life. The show is a part of our life, and in this part we will learn from Anuji.” Well said, Sachin.
