The Silver Linings Playbook actor is delighted to receive the honour from the City of Los Angeles
Anupam Kher has done us, himself and the country proud! The Special 26 actor is going great guns not only in Bollywood but also in Hollywood. Little did the versatile star know that his interesting role of a psychiatrist in Oscar-nominated film Silver Linings Playbook would be appreciated to such an extent that he’ll win the City Proclamation – a special award from the Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
Kher was felicitated by Herb J Wesson Jr, President Los Angeles City Council and Tom Labonge, Council Member 4th District with a City Proclamation at Los Angeles City Hall on February 26 in California. The 58-year-old actor who attended the pre-Oscar dinner and bonded with Hollywood giants like Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio amongst others said, “It is a big event because I am being honoured as an actor, and not only as an Indian actor. The Proclamation from the City of Los Angeles would be an endorsement of the fact that Asian actors are not seen as peculiar phenomena on a global platform. Of course, most of my films are Indian and I am an Indian actor. So I had represented my country in front of the city mayor.”
Our heartiest congratulations to you Mr Kher! We are sure there are many more to come…
