AR Rahman enthralls with ‘Hosanna’ at Taj Mahal

A first-of-its-kind music launch for the Prateik-Amy Jackson starrer Ekk Deewana Tha was held at the monument of love, Taj Mahal

The makers of Ekk Deewana Tha had recently unveiled a poster that doesn’t carry the leading actors of the film but just rides on the popularity of AR Rahman and Javed Akhtar. The film’s music launch was held at the Taj Mahal, the ultimate symbol of love and included an enthralling performance by the maestro singer-composer AR Rahman. He sung some alluring numbers from the movie, like Hosanna, Sharminda Hoon and Kya Hai Mohabbat. Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Hindi remake of the hit Tamil film, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya has been getting lukewarm response so far. While the makers hope to garner attention by casting musical geniuses for the movie, we notice that Rahman hasn’t really created a new score for the Hindi version. The music is as it was in the Tamil version, only the lyrics have been altered. The point is, that Ekk Deewana Tha is set in Mumbai and not Chennai (like the Tamil version) and the music has a very distinct South Indian flavor which may not go down very well with those who prefer North Indian beats. May be the Mozart of Madras has some surprises in store for his fans and we should probably wait to hear the full songs. In the meanwhile, tell us what you think of the new trailer.
