Arshad Warsi to wield the megaphone
After being immortalised as ‘Circuit’ on celluloid, the funny guy is set to don the hat of director for a Vashu Bhagnani production
You must have read here about how Arshad Warsi is tired of playing second fiddle in movies. He has been around for a long time and is doing well for himself, but Arshad is still chasing the ‘elusive solo-hero hit film’ to boast of. You might not remember, but he also produced a film, Hum Tum Aur Ghost, in which he was also the solo hero with Dia Mirza playing his love interest. Unfortunately the film tanked and it proved that may be he was not meant to play a solo hero.
Arshad has a few interesting films like Zilla Ghaziabad, Bhaiyyaji Superhit and Dedh Ishqiya, which might release later this year. All these films have ensemble casts where he is playing quirky roles. Probably as an effort to move into his own zone and be in a powerful position, he has decided to turn director for a film being produced by Vashu Bhagnani. From an actor to a failed producer who is now trying his hands at direction, wethinks Arshad is simply trying too hard.
Arshad debut directorial, which has been titled Akad is supposed to be loaded with action sequences. What really amused us is that Arshad is planning to follow tactics the legendary director, Quentin Tarantino is known for in his films. But being a Bhagnani production, there is a strong possibility that Jackky Bhagnani will be playing the lead, which means he will still steal all the limelight from Circuit. Looks like Arshad is going to continue blowing his fuse over it. While it’s a big step for the comedian –actor, do you think it’s wise for him to get into direction?
