The actor-director’s association with television started eons ago
It’s easy to remember Ashutosh Gowariker as the prominent filmmaker who gave us movies like Swades, Jodha Akbar and Lagaan, but very few would remember him doing prominent roles on TV in shows like Circus, CID and Woh. He started his career as an actor with Holi (movie) and then shifted base to do several shows on television.
Now the director is all set to produce his own daily soap, but without the typical saas bahu theme in it. For the past eight months Gowariker has been working on a TV show titled Everest. Sources confirm the show has already been taken up by Star Plus.
Everest revolves around the like of a young guy who dreams conquer the highest peak in the world. It is touted to be a love story with a twist of adventure starring fresh faces. The lead role will be portrayed by a new actor, Rohan. Apparently some of the scenes for the show have been shot in New Zealand.
Everest is scheduled to go on air by May 2014.
