Balika Vadhu : Was Anup Soni and Smita Bansal’s exit from the show planned?

Although the Balika Vadhu stars claim, that quitting the show together was a surprising coincidence, it seems like a planned stint to us. Nonetheless, it’s the end of the road for Bhairon and Sumitra Singh

Bhairon (Anup Soni) and Sumitra (Smita Bhansal), Anandi’s in-laws in Balika Vadhu have quit the show. Talking about Smita and his exit from the show together, Anup Soni said, “That’s a surprising coincidence. I keep telling her jokingly that I won’t work with her again as we won’t have anything new to offer to the viewers.”

Since 2008, Colors show Balika Vadhu, has been a powerful show spreading awareness about child marriage and other women related issues. The show has dominated the television industry in many factors, popularity being the primary one. Anup Soni and Smita Bansal have been an integral part of this venture for the last six years and have now decided to call it quits.

When quizzed about her decision to leave the show, Smita Bansal said in an interview to a daily, “This show has given me a lot, but I have nothing more to offer to the character. As an actor, I am exhausted doing the same thing. At the same time, I understand that the story had to move ahead and that more tracks had to be incorporated. I had nothing to explore in mine.”

The former Amanat star also said that actors who are professional and don’t throw tantrums do get work; hence she isn’t worried about work and is now on a lookout for a ‘creatively exciting’ project.

Anup on the other hand already has Crime Patrol and CID and felt that while his innings on the show was wonderful and with not much happening with his character the decision to leave was ‘mutual’ between the production house and him.

The Balika Vadhu stars will reportedly shoot their last episode end of this and will be shown leaving the city in the show and will not be replaced by other actors on this show. BollywoodLifers, will you miss these characters on the show? Do post your thoughts…
