Barfi! and Paan Singh Tomar vie for Oscars, BAFTA and Golden Globes

These movies have created new benchmarks in Indian cinema and put Indian films on the global map

The makers and the starcast of Barfi! and Paan Singh Tomar couldn’t have asked for anything more. After attracting rave reviews and tasting commercial success in the homeland, Anurag Basu and Tigmanshu Dhulia’s remarkable movies are eyeing major international awards. The two films will compete with 70 best movies from across the world to win a final nomination for Oscars, BAFTA and Golden Globes in mainstream categories like Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best Screenplay and Best Film in Foreign Language.

Siddharth Roy Kapur, Managing Director, Disney UTV Studios, which produced these two movies, said ecstatically, “We have ensured that both the movies get the best platform to shine at all the key international awards this year. We are proud to have produced Barfi! and PST and to have helped them reach as wide an audience as possible globally.”

We at BollywoodLife are as excited as Siddharth and hope that both – the Ranbir Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra, and the Irrfan Khan starrer create history. Fingers crossed!Subscribe to me on YouTube
