Watch this trailer for Ranbir’s range of expressions and you will be convinced why the Kapoor lad is called the next big thing
We know that Ranbir Kapoor has the ability to convey an array of emotions without having to verbalise them. In Barfi!, Ranbir plays the role of a mute-deaf young man named Murphy, who is better-known as Barfi. Always up to pranks, Barfi is an out-and-out ladies’ man. In his home town, Darjeeling, Barfi is popular for his crazy antics, his charming persona and his childlike enthusiasm. Though he can neither speak nor hear, his unusual relationship with two girls – Shruti (Ileana D’Cruz) and Jhilmil (Priyanka Chopra) – makes the plot of the film.
Directed by Anurag Basu, Barfi! is a complete departure from his last film Kites, and it looks promisingly different. Without the use of any lyrics or dialogue, the trailer gives you a glimpse into the world of Barfi, Shruti and Jhilmil. And the background score (with mouth organ and violins) seems like the fourth important character.
This promo proves how Ranbir’s eyes and subtle facial expressions can tell many stories. Though every frame of the promo is oozing with Ranbir’s undeniable charm, one can also notice Priyanka Chopra in a never-seen-before avatar. Priyanka plays a mentally challenged girl in this film. Piggy Chop’s curly mop of hair and her innocent giggles are at par with Ranbir’s delectable performance.
Barfi! is said to be a heart-warming tale of selfless love and about finding happiness in the smallest things in life. It tells you no matter how tough your life may be, “Don’t Worry. Be Barfi!”
