Paresh Rawal birthday special: 5 best comic scenes of the versatile actor!

The Dharam Sankat Mein actor turns 65 today

Born on May 30, 1950, Paresh Rawal is undoubtedly one of the finest actors in Bollywood, who has entertained us for almost three decades. Though Rawal made his acting debut in 1984 with Holi, it was his role in the 1986 blockbuster film Naam that earned him recognition. And since then there has been no looking back for this versatile actor-turned-politician. From a playing dreaded baddie, to tickling the funny bone with his bang on comic timing, Paresh Rawal has made his way into the audience’s heart with great ease. Every time the veteran actor is onscreen, it’s a delight to watch him mesmerize us with his acting prowess. And while the supremely talented actor has played various roles in his career so far, when it comes to comedy, there is no one like him, hai na? So on this special day, we decided to list down 5 funniest scenes of Paresh Rawal. Read on and we are sure you’ll be laughing by the end of it…

Hera Pheri: Filmmaker Priyadarshan’s comic caper starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal is cult classic. In the film, there is a scene where Rawal (Baburao Amte) is fed up of his two tenants – Akki and Sunil. And he says, “Utha le naa baba. Mereko nahi re, in dono ko utha le.” It’s absolutely hilarious even when you read it, no? And not to forget the calls that Babu Rao receives on his landline.

Andaz Apna Apna: Just like Hera Pheri, this one is also a classic which starred Paresh Rawal in double role. And for the first and last time ever we saw the two top Khans, Aamir and Salman in the same frame on 70mm. Though there are many funny moments in this film, the best one is when Rawal says, “Teja main hoon, Mark idhar hai.” Yeah, we all remember it pretty well!

Judaai: Okay, this one isn’t a comedy flick and you don’t get to see much of Paresh Rawal either. But whatever little screen time the veteran actor has in the film is truly epic. Especially the scene where he irritates Johnny Lever by asking him too many silly questions. Kya dekha raha tha? Kyun dekh raha tha? Postman hai? Rehne ke liya dekh raha tha? Pados wala ghar chalega? Paresh Rawal is totally crazy in this one. Not to forget, there is a question mark on his head too which is even funnier.

Awara Paagal Deewana: Another completely insane film wherein Rawal played an important role. At the very start of the film, there is scene where Rawal (Manilal) abuses his wife Supriya Pilgaonkar (Paramjeet). Every time you watch it, you’ll laugh as hard as you did the first time.

Aankhen: In this 2002 hit film, Paresh Rawal played a blind man who is trained to loot a bank. While the film starred Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal and Amitabh Bachchan, it was Rawal who stole the show with his comic antics. There is scene where he abuses a train traveler for throwing him out of the train. He says, “Aye fati chappal tereko cnacer hoyega, uska Ilaj karwake tujhe AIDS hoga…AIDS.”
