BL Awards 2012: Barfi!, Kahaani or Vicky Donor – Which is your favourite small budget movie that made it big?

It’s a good thing that movies aren’t judged by the amount of money spent in their making, or the fate of these blockbusters would have been dismal. And that makes it a perfect reason to list the cheap wonders that took the box office by storm…

Who says you need truckloads of moolah to make a good movie? Featuring in the list of nominations for the BollywoodLife Awards of 2012 is the simplistic English Vinglish on the one hand, and the masaledaar Gangs Of Wasseypur on the other. We also have Vicky Donor dealing with the hush-hush topic of sperm donation and the shocking Kahaani told by Sujoy Ghosh making their way into the list.

These shoestring-budget movies set the cash registers ringing in 2012. A simple story that touched the hearts of the audience was all that was needed to make it big at the box office when it came to these films.

But which of these films do you think really took the cake and all the icing? Take a look at the gallery-full of super-hits that didn’t really burn a hole in the producer’s pocket…

The best movie of the year is English Vinglish among low and big budgets. The best performance of the decade is Sridevi’s. English Vinglish should win because it carries lots of messages and focuses on family values.
