Last Friday two films hit the theatres – Bobby Jasoos and Lekar Hum Deewana Dil. While the former managed to fare decently at the box office, the latter failed to even make an impact
Vidya Balan’s much-awaited detective film Bobby Jasoos released last week and though there was lot of buzz around the film, it didn’t quite live up to the expectations. On day 1 Dia Mirza’s production venture raked in only Rs 1.78 crore. The film did slightly better over the weekend and ended up grossing Rs 7.58 crore in three days. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted on Twitter, “#Bobby Jasoos Fri 1.78 cr, Sat 2.58 cr, Sun 3.22 cr. Total – 7.58 cr nett. India biz.” On the other hand, Armaan Jain and Deeksha Seth’s Bollywood debut Lekar Hum Deewana Dil turned out to be a big disappointment. Even though the Kapoor khandaan went all out to promote Armaan’s first film, LHDD couldn’t pull in crowds to the theatres.
According to Boxofficeindia, “Bobby Jasoos and Lekar Hum Deewana Dil both fared poorly with Bobby Jasoos coming out better but that is no consolation as collections are still low. While Bobby Jasoos grossed around 7.50 crore nett approx in its first weekend, Lekar Hum Deewana Dil was a disaster in terms of collections and the weekend trend as it hardly showed any growth over the weekend. The weekend collections were around the 1.50 crore nett mark.”
While Vidya and Armaan’s film couldn’t create hungama at the ticket windows, Mohit Suri’s Ek Villain got cash registers jingling even in its second week. “#EkVillain [Week 2] Fri 4.30 cr, Sat 5.10 cr, Sun 6.28 cr. Grand total: 92.88 cr nett. India biz. Galloping towards - 100 cr AWESOME,” tweeted Adarsh.
