Bollywood mourns the passing away of Jagjit Singh

The ghazal singer passed away this morning after a brain haemorrhage

Jagjit Singh has sung many memorable songs for Bollywood films and his music has touched many lives. Twitter has been abuzz with the grief expressed by the Hindi film fraternity. Filmmaker Karan Johar sent an emotional tweet, “I grew up listening to the brilliance of Jagjit Singh… my mother was a big fan and then made me one…RIP sir!!! Loss of a true legend.” Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh said, “Heard the sad news of Jagjit singh ji. Truly a legend. My fav song of his. “Hosh waalon ko khabar kya ..bekhudi kya cheez hai”RIP” Preity Zinta tweeted, “May god give peace to Mr. Jagjit Singh’s soul ! He was the king of poetry & soulful music; He will live in our hearts forever…. R.I.P.” Actor Shabana Azmi said, “Kisi ki nazar lag gayi hai kala ki duniya ko..jagjit singh no more. His contribution to the ghazal in India is unparallelled. big loss.” Eesha Koppikhar posted “ Ghazal singer maestro Jagjit Singh.RIP. Aankhon mein nami haasi labon par, kya gham hai jisko chupa rahe ho. Will miss u Sir.” Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt said, “My film ARTH would not have touched the hearts of millions of people without the contribution of Jagjit Singh. Thank you friend. Thank you!” Celina Jaitly posted, “Shocked to hear the golden voiced jagjit Singhji passed away ,we have lost our magnificent ghazal maestro & a wonderful human being.” Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar said, “Terribly shocked to hear the sad demise of Jagjit Singhji, in u i have lost a dear friend, yr soulful songs will remain till eternity.” Shekhar Kapur, who goes back a long way with the velvet-voiced singer, tweeted, “A heart that captured millions through poetry n song. G’bye Jagjit, dear friend.”

Terrible sad news. End of soulful singing, music and lyrics.
His nsoothing voice and Ghazal rendition touched millions and solaced them.

May God rest his soul in peace and give all his music lovers courage and strength to bear this unbearable loss.

my best friend phoned and asked whether i am going to the funeral.i learnt about the demise of the great maestro.i hope we will meet in the hereafter and he will grace us with much more soothing ghazals.till then good luck in this new journey.

I am shocked to hear that he was with us only this much time. I lived my high and low times with his soothing and heart melting voice. It sure was the darkest day for those who loved him so much. He will be immortal for music loves.
