Box office report: ‘Ishaqzaade’ beats ‘Dangerous Ishhq’

Box office report: ‘Ishaqzaade’ beats ‘Dangerous Ishhq’

The Arjun Kapoor-Parineeti Chopra starrer gets the fifth biggest opening of 2012, while Karisma Kapoor’s reincarnation saga fails to create an impression at the BO

Habib Faisal’s Ishaqzaade and Vikram Bhatt’s Dangerous Ishhq, both of which released last Friday, brought several expectations with them. While Dangrous Ishhq was Karisma Kapoor’s comeback film, Ishaqzaade was a Yash Raj Films’ movie, marking the debut of Boney Kapoor’s son Arjun Kapoor alongside one-film old Parineeti Chopra.

While Habib’s film has received mixed reviews, Dangerous Ishhq didn’t impress the critics at all. Ishaqzaade has managed to make its mark at the box office though. The film was made at a decent budget of Rs 25 crore and going by the opening, it is set to make good profits. The movie earned about Rs 4.54 crore nett on the first day, making it the fifth biggest opening of the year (Agneepath – Rs 23 crore, Housefull 2 – Rs 14 crore, Agent Vinod – Rs 10 crore and Jannat 2 – Rs 8.52 crore). And it showed marginal growth on Saturday (second day) by making Rs 5 crore. So the estimated weekend collections of this Arjun-Parineeti starrer are said to be around Rs 15 crore nett.

Dangerous Ishhq, on the other hand, has received a lukewarm response from the audience. The first-day collections were about Rs 1.10 crore and the film saw an occupancy of only about 10-20 per cent at the theatres. It made 1.20 crore on Saturday and around 1.50 crore nett on Sunday. So the total collections on the weekend are around Rs 3.75 crore nett. Ishaqzaade has definitely come out a winner this weekend.

stop following movies cause filmmakers are making money at the expense of people. Be intelligent don’t swallow everything that comes out. cause bulls and cows don’t give milk.

I think it’s high time for Karishma to retire instead of playing MILFs.
