Box office report: Jab Tak Hai Jaan likely to lose the race to Son Of Sardaar!
Though the Shahrukh Khan-Katrina Kaif-Anushka Sharma starrer has earned Rs 122 crores worldwide in six days (till Sunday), trade pundits feel that Ajay Devgn’s Son Of Sardaar could in all probability surpass box office collections of the Yash Chopra film
The Diwali bonanza for Bollywood may have ended on a sad note in Mumbai with the death of political giant Bal Thackeray, but not before the two big releases – Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son Of Sardaar - had earned a combined nett total of Rs 140 crore at the box office (figures collected till Sunday).
As per the detailed box office report of Yash Raj Films, Jab Tak Hai Jaan’s all-India nett box office collection till Sunday was Rs 80.73 crore, whereas the overseas gross box office collection was Rs 41.7 crores. Interestingly, the film ranks eighth in the US box office with $1.28 million (1.94 million six day collection) with a screen count of 161. Hence the total India and overseas intake of JTHJ is around Rs 122 crores. On the other hand, SOS collected about Rs 66.02 crore India nett. Trade expert Amod Mehra says, “Both the films seem to be neck-to-neck in terms of their performance. While the first day was good for both, the second day and the third were extraordinary. The fourth day was almost identical, but on Saturday and Sunday, SOS has managed to have a slight edge over JTHJ.” If another trade analyst is to be believed, if one compares both the films in terms of average, ticket rates, footfalls, etc, SOS might race ahead of JTHJ in the second week.
Both JTHJ and SOS, which have already entered the second crucial week post-release, still have ten days time to create new records at the box office. But this is only before Aamir Khan’s Talaash storms the BO.

what about the total cost of films…? total cost of sos is 80 cror and that of jthj 50 cror. now compare the buisness of both films………………jthj is clear winer in domestic as will as overseas.

After reading the article above… If that comes anyway close to the truth i will probably stop watching bollywood films for good. SOS is probably the most pathetic film (and this is me being polite) i have seen for quiet a while. It seems SRK is not liked as much in Índia to other actors. When the guy tries to do action films everyone slates him and says he shud do romantic and when he does that then people say he is old and shudn’t do it. Well whether SOS overtakes JTHJ which i highly doubt it cause i have some faith in the indian public.. Its not a problem cause Ajay Devgan and his production can count his monies in rupees where as YRF and SRk can count them in dollars n pounds. People talk here about records.. Whats the big huhahh about getting to 100cr the quickest. U media just need any story to print. I honestly believe that if JTHJ was a solo release and mumbai theatres were not shut down on the first weekend. JTHJ would have beaten the quicket 100cr mark. But people and readers forget that. People also forget that JTHJ will be a super hit… So whats the big deal.

SRK should not do romantic films at this age. He no longer suit blue-eyed boy or lover boy roles. He should pick up roles that are age appropriate and do films that convey a social message. Its really sad to see that an actor of his caliber resorting to kissing and bedroom scenes to draw the audience to the theater. SRK is well known for making movies exclusively for family audience. Looks like his age has taken a toll on him that’s why in an attempt to make himself look younger, he is agreeing to be a part of any project that comes his way. SRK should wake up before he destroys his name and reputation any further and his personal life isn’t helping him either ever since the rumors of PC linkup came out. Even the actors who are younger than him vying for good roles for example Ranbir kapoor.

LOL at SRK fans unable to accept reality! The truth is JTHJ is struggling to come close to even the rejected film Ra One, let alone create any new records! And have some shame! Look at critical panning & low BO of JTHJ before bashing other stars! Even after 3 years, hype, all sorts of tricks & publicity stunts SRK couldn’t come close to 3 Idiots record! Talaash is a suspense film unlike a run of the mill same old love story with typical song-dance. Excel knows better. SRK still failing to match Aamir’s record & his fans call Aamir a failure? Ha! Even with less promotion Talaash will earn more than JTHJ & become talk of town! It’s a quality film, unlike fuddu romances!
