Facing a tough competition from Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger, Bela Sehgal’s light-hearted love story manages to gross Rs 5 crore in the first two days
A welcome relief from high-octane action flicks and mindless comedies, Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi promised to provide a dose of hatke entertainment. Though the movie starring Boman Irani and Farah Khan has received mixed reviews from critics, it has enjoyed positive response from the multiplex audience. With an average occupancy from 25 to 35 percent in the metros, Shirin and Farhad’s romantic comedy bagged Rs 3 crore on the opening day. On Saturday though there was a slight dip in the collections, with only Rs 2.5 crore collected.
On Sunday, the film was expected to attract more audience, but trade pundits also opine that many prefer Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starring Ek Tha Tiger to SFKTNP. With more than Rs 160 crore in its kitty, Sallu’s spy thriller still rules at BO.
There’s a clear cut divide between those who want to have their weekly dose of masala entertainment with Ek Tha Tiger and those who want to try out the light-hearted love story, SFKTNP.
In the days to come Shirin-Farhad will be aiming to reach Rs 8-10 crore mark, which will be decent for a small budget production without a star-cast.
