Box office: Tiger Shroff’s Heropanti stands tall despite competition from Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan!

Yes, you heard that right. It’s surprising but commendable that Tiger’s debut film has performed well at the box office even though it has released alongside South Superstar’s much-hyped period drama

Sajid Nadiadwala’s production venture Heropanti starring Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon didn’t witness an earth shattering opening, but it has done a decent job at the ticket windows so far. And this is despite the release of Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone’s high on technology film Kochadaiiyaan on the same day. Now that’s an achievement in itself, hai na? Though Jackie Shroff’s ladla beta has a long way to go, we are sure he must be happy that his action drama has managed to pull in crowds to the cinema halls. According to Boxofficeindia, “Heropanti had a good opening across the mass areas as both multiplexes and single screens opened well in cities like Jaipur and Nagpur. The opening in places like UP, Rajasthan and Gujarat was 50-55% and this is likely to be the case in other mass circuits like CPCI and Bihar. The opening in Mumbai/Thane belt was also pretty good though occupancies were lower but this is always the case as films open on too many theatres.” As for Kochadaiiyaan, the film had a limited release in most metros except down South and that’s one reason why the Hindi version hasn’t got cash registers ringing. But the scenario is completely opposite down South and that’s no surprise considering the Rajini effect.

In South, Heropanti’s collections have suffered courtesy Rajini Sir’s animated flick directed by his daughter Soundarya R Ashwin. “The opening in the South is a totally different story; the opening is bumper for the Tamil version of Kochadaiiyaan across South. Cities like Hyderabad and Bangalore released both the Hindi version and Tamil version and while the Hindi version hardly had an audience the Tamil version was houseful,” reported Boxofficeindia. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh also posted on Twitter, “Rajinikanth fans across the globe rejoice! #Kochadaiiyaan opens to HUMUNGOUS response across Tamil Nadu. Expect new records to be set!”

Looks like both the films have managed to reach out to their target audiences. As of now this box office battle is well poised. But things can change over the weekend so let’s wait and watch!Subscribe to me on YouTube
