It certainly doesn’t seem so! Wethinks that’s why the B-town babe has patched up with her former friend-cum-mentor. Yes, the two ladies were spotted at Ekta’s iftar bash and seemed inseparable
Besides being a sought after producer who has spearheaded pathbreaking soap operas on Hindi television, Ekta Kapoor is also known for launching careers of many actors. One of them is Prachi Desai. Thanks to the Balaji head honcho, the petite actor had a successful run on TV and became a star almost overnight after playing the lead role in Ekta’s hit serial Kasamh Se, with Ram Kapoor, often called the Shahrukh Khan of the small screen. Since then the two women have been best buddies. The TV czarina even cast Prachi in her film Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai and the talented lass went on to win five awards for her performance in a supporting role. And after their jodi worked wonders on the silver screen, we expected that Prachi would work with Ekta dobara. But sadly that didn’t happen, and tongues started wagging about their friendship going kaput.
Apparently Ms Desai was miffed with her mentor, as Ms K announced film after film, none of them starring the former soap star. However, things got really bad when the feisty producer roped in Sonali Bendre instead of her once-blue-eyed girl for the sequel of OUATIM. With back-to-back flops like I, Me Aur Main and Policegiri, Prachi needs a hit in her kitty and Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara could have been the one. But life being such as it is, wethinks the Kasamh Se actress has realised that instead of being miffed and all ego-hassled, being friends with the Industry’s mighty always helps, especially when your career graph isn’t going upwards or, in Prachi’s case, anywhere. Also, Prachi has hardly any friends in the industry outside this little clique – and of course her rumoured relationship with Bol Bachchan director Rohit Shetty – so wethinks that burying the hatchet with Ekta is a wise move…professionally and personally too!
