A while back, Preity Zinta had expressed her desire to return to dancing in saris in the Swiss Alps; unfortunately no one paid heed. Perhaps, so the actress has decided to produce films
Preity Zinta is the latest actor to turn producer. We hear that the pretty lady has been discussing scripts with a couple of filmmakers, one of them being the director of Main Aur Mrs Khanna, Prem Soni. She will, apparently, not only produce it, but also act in the film. Recently Lara Dutta released her first co-production Chalo Dilli; it received mixed reviews, but the newly married actor is already planning for her next production. Their contemporaries Dia Mirza and Ameesha Patel are working on their films too. More to women power, we say! But a close look at the situation reveals that except for Kajol and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who are doing fewer films though still mainstream ones, most of the former reigning heroines in Bollywood have moved on to doing pivotal roles in offbeat films. Be it Juhi Chawla, Urmila Matondkar or Lara Dutta, they have figured out where success lies and are not pushing their star status too much any more. With the likes of Deepika Padukone, Sonam, Anushka Sharma, Sonakshi Sinha and Asin in the big picture these days, we don’t think the Indian audience is prepared to watch a 35-plus actress romancing 40-plus men onscreen! And what do you think?
