The actor with a prominent funny bone turns 48 today
Chunky Pandey was born Suyash Sharad Pandey on September 26, 1964 to Dr Sharad Pandey and Snehalata. He debuted on the big screen with Rocky in 1981 as a junior artiste. His debut as a main lead was Aag Hi Aag (1987) opposite Neelam, post that he went on to do a number of Hindi movies like Tezaab (1988), Kasam Vardi Ki (1989), Aatishbaaz (1990), Aankhen (1993) and many more. Till the early 90s Chunky had three or four releases every year. That’s when his character as an actor who can dabble in comedy as well as serious roles convincingly was etched out.
But in the late ’90s Pandey slowed down a little with only one or two movies to his credit every year, that too in supporting roles. After 2001 CP took a tiny break from B-town and moved to Bangladeshi cinema, where he made his mark as a superstar. But he returned to Bollywood with Qayamat: City Under Threat in 2003. Now we have Chunky in the most delightful of character roles – like Aakhri Pasta in Housefull and Housefull 2.
What’s more, the latest buzz coming our way is that Chunky might feature in the sixth season of Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss. Ahem ahem. So shall we gear up for some LOLs, or will Chunkey don the serious man’s suit?
But that’s for later. For now, here’s wishing the guy who made us smile in De Dana Dan (2009), Ready (2011), Rascals (2011) and of course the Housefull series (2010 and 2012) a very happy birthday. Cheers!
