COKE STUDIO@MTV: Shruti Pathak, Leslie Lewis jam

This week’s episode beautifully blends together three different styles of music

Things get really exciting on Coke Studio this week, with eclectic fusion band Advaita kickstarting the episode with their Indie rock number Gir gir. Then there’s Pankhi Dutta who does a soulful rendition of the folk number Khene Bhi. And don’t miss her duet with her idol Shafqat Amanat Ali. Insiders revealed that Pankhi, a doctor by profession, took great care of Shafqat when he twisted his ankle two days before the shoot and had to walk with a crutch. Pankhi took complete care of Shafqat during the shoot and saw to it that he had adequate rest. Maybe that’s why he managed to give a heartrending performance of Kya haal sunawa with Shruti Pathak. You can also listen to Shruti singing the Gujarati folk song Dhine dhine and pappdo with Papon. The Mar jaawa singer sang it on the insistence of Leslie Lewis, and then sang a Bollywood song for her own creative satisfaction. That just gives viewers double pleasure, right?

Coke Studio airs every Friday at 8pm on MTV
