Even after opening to not-so-fabulous reviews, Arbaaz Khan’s directorial venture rakes in highly impressive moolah at the collection centers, thanks to Salman Khan’s massive popularity
Let’s face it straight! Salman Khan’s much-anticipated film of the year Dabangg 2 may not have received great reviews, but given bhai’s broad fan base, the movie has netted Rs 64 crores at the box office. It’s been just three days since the high-octane drama hit the screens, but Arbaaz Khan’s directorial venture has already crossed Salman’s last release Ek Tha Tiger’s collection. The Kabir Khan production had amassed Rs 60.32 crores in the first three days. Clearly, Dabangg 2 has surpassed that enviable figure in spite of it being a non-holiday Friday release.
Salman’s magic continues to charm audiences as bhai’s ardent fans thronged the theatres. Given the popularity of Chulbul Pandey in the film’s first installment, Dabangg 2 enjoyed an unbelievable advanced booking. The film released in 3,500 screens across the country and got a humongous response. It earned Rs 21.10 crores on Friday. The makers were expecting a bigger turnout on Saturday, but surprisingly there was a dip in the collections. The movie netted Rs 19.06 crores on Saturday. But on Sunday, the earnings soared and the movie fetched Rs 24.50 crores at the BO.
While Salman continues with his Midas touch, it remains to be seen if Chulbul Pandey’s charm will help the film get past the coveted Rs 100 crore mark this Christmas. Tell us what do you think, BollywoodLifers?
