The Rascals director has announced a contest to name his Chashme Buddoor remake via actor Anupam Kher who is very active on Twitter

Whoever has seen David Dhawan’s Rascals, has felt very angry with him for the torture that the film was. So after the announcement about Dhawan re-making Sai Parānjpye’s 1981 cult comedy Chashme Buddoor was made, there has been a lot of dissent. The purists have always decried any film being remade but this time around they have been joined by loyal fans of the original film. Dhawan has cast Pakistani singer-actor Ali Zafar for the role that Farooq Shaikh played in the original, and the latest news is that he has also roped in Siddharth to play the late Ravi Baswani’s role in the film. While the female lead, played by Deepti Naval in the original, hasn’t been decided yet, it seems that the director hasn’t been able to find an alternate name for his remake. He finally sought the help of his friend Anupam Kher who promptly helped him by tweeting, “David Dhawan is looking for an alternate Title for Chashme Buddoor. Send ur title. If chosen u get Rs 25000 and an invite to d Premier.:)” Wethinks this is a smart way to get people involved in the film and the spoils that are up for grabs make it very enticing. We hope for the sake of Dhawan that he spends his energy on writing the script first instead of trying to get big stars on board.
