DAVID quick movie review: Vikram disappoints, Neil Nitin Mukesh shines and Vinay is stereotypical!

Our critic is watching Bejoy Nambiar’s David in the theatre right now, and here’s what she has to say about the movie until the interval

BollywoodLife critic Renuka Vembu is watching David in the theatre, and her first reaction to the film is as follows: “The story until now establishes the three characters in their respective eras – Neil Nitin Mukesh in 1975 london, Vinay Virmani in 1999 Mumbai and Vikram in 2010 Goa.”

She adds, “Neils track progresses well…it’s powerful ‘n’ packed with action ‘n’ drama. But he has just spoken two sentences ’til now…it’s his personality and body language which speaks volumes. Vikram has been a disappointment…his track hasn’t progressed much. He is shown as a typical Goan – drinking to death and doing nothing else. Vinay’s track, too, is stereotypical to some extent. He is portrayed as a struggling guitarist of a lower middle-class family.”

She concludes, “The three tracks go back and forth, breaking the drama, tension and gripping moments in between. We wait to watch if the second half can sustain the momentum.”
