Deepika Padukone beats Katrina Kaif to star opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Aanad L Rai’s next

Rumours were rife that it would be Katrina Kaif who’d been approached Shah Rukh Khan’s dwarf film but it is now being reported that not Katrina but someone else will be playing the female lead in the movie. And that’s none other than Deepika Padukone. According to a leading magazine, not Katrina Kaif but Deepika Padukone who’s been more or less locked to play the female lead opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Tanu Weds Manu director Aanand L Rai’s dwarf movie. Ouch! If Katrina gets to know this, I’m sure she’s gonna take major offence. After all, we all know that DP and Ms Kaif have been on loggerheads for the longest time.

Anand L Rai, who has helmed films like Ranjhanna and Tanu Weds Manu, is reportedly in advanced talks with the Padmavati actress, but casting announcements won’t be made for at least a few weeks, says the report. Considering that Deepika and SRK have worked together in quite a few films before, and that they are the closest of friends it won’t be a tough task for them to bond on the sets. For all those who have been calling it a ‘dwarf film’, let me tell you it isn’t one. Filmmaker Anand L Rai revealed it exclusively to BollywoodLife that although it is a dwarf film, dwarf is not the character. “I have been hearing this and I have been talking about this. Yes, it’s a dwarf film. But dwarf is not the character. I am making a film where the size of the character is short. It’s a very new character. It’s a story about a man and woman again like Ranjhanaa or Tanu Weds Manu. It has different characters. In this case, my character is smaller in size. Let’s not design it like a story of a dwarf. It’s a story of a man who’s size is small,” he said.
