Did you have an overdose of selfies? We did. Here’s a rundown of instances where our beloved stars posted selfies and garnered a lot of unnecessary attention

Selfie – this word has been personified literally by our very capable B-town celebs. It all began with Ellen DeGenres selfie moment at Oscars, and since then it seems everyone in Bollywood seems to have suddenly got obsessed by this. We wonder if this is a way to be in front of the cameras 24×7. That’s when we thought of collating all the self obsessed moments of our B-townies…

Since we are amidst the election season, let’s begin with an example of the Lok Sabha elections. With a number of actors choosing IIFA 2014 over the LS elections, we believe tweeples really missed prospective selfies of many other film stars who would have posted their pictures after casting their vote. However, those who did vote were quick and keen to upload their inked pictures. Shahrukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan, Juhi Chawla, Farhan Akhtar, the Bachchans amongst many others seemed to have been bitten by the selfie bug. A joke was circulated on the Election Day which read, “Election commission has announced that your vote will be counted even if you don’t post a selfie on the social networking websites.” We doubt if this message got conveyed to our tinsel town celebs.

There are other instances as well, where selfies became almost mandatory. One such instance is a recent award function held in New Delhi which was organised by a leading news channel of the country, where every actor present posted a selfie on the internet to make their presence felt.

Not far in the race are film promotions. Remember the plethora of selfies Alia Bhatt posted with Arjun Kapoor while promoting 2 States or those sizzling pictures posted by Varun Dhawan with Nargis Fakhri, while the duo were promoting Main Tera Hero. Ranveer Singh is another actor who leaves no opportunity to post selfies on Twitter.

While speaking of Ranveer Singh, how can we forget the number of selfies the Ram-Leela actor posted from the recently concluded IIFA 2014? During the same event, Shahid aping the Ellen DeGeneres’ Oscar selfie caught everyone’s eye. Actor turned designer Mandira Bedi also posted a selfie with Shahrukh Khan on the social networking website recently. The Baadshah of Bollywood is also known for posting selfies with his kids and friends on the internet quite often. Being SRK, the actor garners much response over his timely postings.

Bipasha Basu also posted a number of selfies from IIFA with her girlfriends Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Dia Mirza. Mallika Sherawat posted a group selfie with Salman Khan and boxer Vijender Singh. Music Director Shantanu Moitra posted a selfie with the legendary lyricist Gulzar while the duo were on their way to Delhi for the National Awards ceremony.

With so many selfies all over, do you think Bollywood has made selfie a replaced word for self obsession? Research claims that clicking too much selfies indicates symptoms of Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD). BDD is a chronic mental illness where an individual is overly concerned with body image and their physical appearance. We are not saying that Bollywood stars may have these symptoms it is only their habit which raises our concern for them. Don’t you agree with us peeps?Subscribe to me on YouTube
