Desh Ki Beti Nandini: Who will play the lead opposite Kirti Nagpure?

The show which was scheduled to replace Sanaya Irani’s Chhnachhan will see a newbie opposite Kirti

Bhopal born Rafi Malik has been shortlisted to play the lead role opposite Nandini (Kirti Nagpure) in Desh Ki Beti Nandini (DKBN).

The show was supposed to be on air by now, but due to constant delays, the daily soap has been postponed and the channel has extended the airing time for Amita Ka Amit and Kehta Hai Dil…Jee Le Zara.

DKBN was originally supposed to have Ravi Dubey of the Saas Bina Sasural fame as the lead actor. A source from the show informs, “”We finalised Rafi for the lead role as we were looking for a fresh face. The character of Rajveer Raghuvanshi (Rafi’s character) belongs to a royal family and has that sophisticated air about him. Rafi suited the character perfectly as he is from Bhopal aur usmein woh nawaabon wala tashan hai (he has a royal look).”

Rafi was among the finalists of Gladrags MegaModel Hunt in 2011. Talking about his first break, Rafi said, “I started my career as a model and I’m elated with this break. The makers were looking for a new face, and I got lucky. I was also offered a role in Mahabharat, but this interested me more as I’m playing the lead. And it’s a happy coincidence for me. I’m starting my acting career shooting in my hometown. I couldn’t have asked for more.”

The show is ideally based in Delhi, but the makers have shot the show in Bhopal ‘coz of the pleasant weather. “DKBN is based in Delhi, but it becomes very difficult to shoot there because of the sultry weather. So, we decided to come to Bhopal. In the entire schedule, we never faced any problem and things went off very smoothly,” said one of the team members.

Kirti, who plays Nandini said, “I am playing a girl-next-door in the show, who raises her voice against atrocities. However, in reality, I’m a bit reserved. So, doing this role is very challenging and I’m working really hard.”

Let’s hope the effort the makers are putting into the show pays off when it is finally aired.
