Did Ram Gopal Varma meet Maria Susairaj in jail?

Did the director meet the accused in the Neeraj Grover murder case for his film? Read on to know more…

Maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is known to stick his nose into every controversy. This time it is the Maria Susairaj murder case. While many claim that Ramu has intentionally timed the launch of the first look of his film Not a Love Story (‘inspired’ by the same case) to match the verdict date, the director says, “Nothing can be more of a bizarre coincidence…. At 11.30am today the verdict on Maria case was issued and at 12.30pm, the unveiling of the first look of Not a Love Story. The first look of the film spells out very loud and clear that the audience will be horrified with the blood and gore. A punchline in the promo says: ‘A story from the heart but not for the fainthearted’. At the event RGV was asked if he had met those accused (Maria Susairaj and Emile Jerome Mathew) in the murder before he made the film, to which he replied, “I didn’t want to meet them because this is not a biopic based on their story. Just the germ of the idea is based on what happened between them as reported, but beyond that, it is my imagination.” When he was asked what attracted him to such stories of crime and criminals, in his trademark style he explained that “Deep down inside I am a criminal, but I don’t have the guts to do anything of that sort, so I live out my fantasies through my films.” Not sure why, but we kinda agree with that last statement he made. Don’t you?
