The actor who is known to work magic in supporting roles celebrates her 35th birthday today
Divya Dutta, who was born on September 25, 1977, hails from Ludhiana, Punjab. And while she first stepped in front of the camera with Ishq Mein Jeena Ishq Mein Marna in 1994, Divya first got recognised as an actor only in Shaheed-E-Mohabbat in 1999.
Post that Dutta made her mark in Bollywood as a bankable supporting actor. She’s even won awards for her roles in movies like Veer-Zaara (2004), Welcome To Sajjanpur (2008), and Delhi 6 (2009).
And while the lady has featured in over 60 movies in B-town, her workspace is not limited to Hindi cinema. Divya also has international movies like Mini Punjab (2008) and Heart Land (2010) to her credit. Naaicee, we say.
But it’s her role as Kareena Kapoor aka Mahi’s publicist in Heroine that’s being talked about right now. Yup, it’s yet another supporting role in which Divya stands out. And she’s happy for just that. “I’m glad that I’m not a stereotypical actor. I have the freedom to choose the roles I want,” she said in an interview.
What’s more, DD is now gearing up for movies like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag starring Farhan Akhtar, Lootera with Ranveer Singh and Sanjay Dutt’s Zilla Ghaziabad. Whoa! And if you think Divya’s hands were full only with these, hear this – Dutta also plans to write a fictional book based on her experiences. “I started writing it six months ago and hopefully I will be able to release it by next year,” she said.
