It’s time to get dressed and decked for the festival of lights. On this auspicious occasion, take a look at B-town divas as they go desi, and decide whose look you would like to follow as you celebrate Diwali…
The crackers booming everywhere and the lanterns lit in every nook and corner of the city are enough to get us in the festive mode on Diwali. Yet, when we light a diya on this festival of lights, we make sure that we wear dazzling outfits to blend with the equally illuminated surroundings. So as we all prepare to get dressed for Diwali, here are some inspirations… and some dos and don’ts! We present to you Sonam Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and a few others in desi avatars.
During the promotions of Raanjhanaa, Sonam Kapoor was seen in a gold Anamika Khanna ensemble. We’d like to congratulate her for daring to wear a blingy outfit like this and carrying the look with utmost grace. The phuljhadi babe flaunted her belly piercing in the lehenga and the back of her dress was quite interesting. At a dedication function, the bomb Priyanka Chopra draped a blue and cream coloured saree with intricate gold design. With the translucent pallu, PeeCee flaunted her enviably toned body! We loved her look. Deepika Padukone was all for desi clothes during the promotions of Chennai Express. On one occasion we spotted her in a mustard and gold anarkali. The leggy lass looked like a vision in the floor-length ensemble. On the sets of a comedy show show, DP sported a red and gold ensemble – she looked like a red hot pataka in the mirror embellished attire!
Among others, we spotted Sridevi in a jhatak saree. She had teamed the orange drape with gold work with a blingy gold blouse. Well, it’s a bit gaudy, no? So now you know what not to do this Diwali. Chitrangda Singh in a pink navvari styled bottom teamed with a hideously loud orange blouse – that’s another fashion disaster you certainly don’t want to think about this Diwali.
So tell us, BollywoodLifers, which of these fashionistas is your style role model this Diwali?
