‘Don 2’ shines at the box office; ‘Players’ tanks

Shahrukh Khan’s thriller crosses the Rs 100 crore mark at the end of the third week, while Players struggles in its first week

Shahrukh Khan has definitely had a great year at the box office. After a blockbuster in the form of his Diwali release RA.One, SRK’s Don 2 (which released on December 23, 2011) has also been declared a hit. Even though the collections dropped heavily in the third week, the film has managed to earn a nett collection of around Rs 101.66 crore.

While the year ended on a positive note for the film industry, 2012 didn’t begin that well. the Abhishek Bachchan, Neil Nitin Mukhesh, Bipasha Basu, Sonam Kapoor starrer Players has failed to generate any kind of interest. Abbas-Mustan definitely have a great cause for concern as their big-budget remake of the Hollywood superhit Italian Job has tanked at the BO.

Players’ collections look very poor; the film has managed to earn only about Rs 21.50 crore nett in the first week. And sadly, all circuits across the country including Mumbai have done poorly. The collections on the opening weekend itself were low (Rs 14.85 crore) and the trade analysts didn’t expect the film to recover from that. The trade is now looking forward to the release of the Hrithik Roshan-Sanjay Dutt led Agneepath, which has the potential to put the industry trade back on track.

    Hi hrithik,Congrats on the sucecss of kites,Your expressions and your deep commitment towards the role is simply outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.Next big release of yours is none other than KRISSH 2 .Your fans have got a huge expectation from you in this movie and i wish u always rise above their expectations,From Koi mil gaya to krissh,Everything changed for Krishna(As usual your character).You have taken a lot of pain to do KRISSH giving it Super hero symbol, but as usual from here onwards everything is difficult. Now from here taking KRISSH to another level is really challenging.I have just got a formal request for you if you are heading for KRISSH 2 is that you should not follow or copy the western superheroes like SUPER-MAN,BATMAN etc.I mean after the super hero is born immediately in next sequel A powerful villian is bought into the next movie by the director to fight him.This Legacy has been repeated infinite times where hero keeps on defeating the villians in Sequel after sequel.It doesn’t mean that KRISSH will stop doing his super hero activity but instead follow such a story which had never been followed by anybody,Try to Globalise your super hero character through the story such that it could get attention of each and every person.I know it’s your profession and you are best in it but if you follow this simple request believe me KRISSH will have the biggest fan followin on this earth WITH TREMENDOUS HOPE, VINIT

    I think Abhishek Bachchan fails miserably in most of his movies in the last decade, should get into direction.His performances have been powerful in one off movies but seriously his acting is much to be desired.He is truly a over rated star.Sorry to say but that’s the truth!

    the MIGHTY KING SHAH RUKH KHAN..though don is a suspense thriller not masala family entertainer it crosses 110crs* mark domestic
