And perhaps to ensure maximum publicity, Balaji Motion Pictures has chosen the busiest day – Mauni Amavasya – as the D-day. But is it a safe move?
The latest buzz that came our way this morning is that Ekta Kapoor, her entire team of Balaji Motion Pictures and the lead actors of Ek Thi Daayan have decided upon promoting the movie in the Maha Kumbh Mela at Allahabad.
Now, logic suggests that the team might have decided upon this step to promote their horror flick. But birdies reveal otherwise. Apparently the Ek Thi Daayan team also wanted to make good use of the abundant positive energy of this place during the mela.
So Balaji Motion Pictures has chosen the busiest day of the Kumbh Mela – Mauni Amavasya that falls on February 10 – to showcase certain promotional activities related to their movie. Errmm, a complicated move we would say, because on that particular day, more than 10 crore people are expected to visit Allahabad. And choosing such a venue for a movie promotion doesn’t really sound like a good idea, does it?
But to ensure that everything falls perfectly into place, actors Emraan Hashmi and Huma Qureshi will take residence in the specially constructed tents surrounded by armed security on the banks of the Ganga on February 8. The actors will also take a dip into the holy waters of the Ganges and pray for ETD to be a blockbuster.
“The Maha Kumbh is a renowned international event of epic proportions. Despite challenges in terms of logistics, we are taking the plunge, to seek blessings and promote our first release of the year, in such a mammoth manner,” Tanuja Garg, CEO, Balaji Motion Pictures said in an interview.
While we do acknowledge the courage of the Ek Thi Daayan makers for taking such a step, a tiny part of our heart worries about the safety of the actors and other pilgrims who will be present at the venue during the promotions on the busiest day of the Kumbh Mela.
So do you think it’s a safe move, BollywoodLifers?
