Emraan Hashmi’s life gets bigger and better
The Murder 2 actor’s steady career growth has suddenly evoked interest from a top-league female actor and producers
Serial kisser Emraan Hashmi hasn’t been short of accolades or adulation. Despite working with small-time producers and directors, this actor has managed to dig his feet deep into Bollywood. And now, post the success of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, Murder 2 and the recent release The Dirty Picture, Emraan’s life is changing for the better. First Bipasha Basu, who at one time had turned down a Bhatt production opposite the serial kisser, is willing to star opposite him in Raaz 2 for the same production house. What’s interesting is that earlier Bips felt she was too big-name to star opposite Immy, but now this is no longer a cause for worry. Or is it that today Immy is shining brighter at the box-office than the desperately-needing-a-hit Bips? Her last success at the box-office was Race back in 2008. However, what’s cool is that Immy knows of the leading lady’s volte face and isn’t perturbed by it. Now comes the second piece of good news for the actor – his old film Raftaar 24X7 has been revived. Emraan, Neha Dhupia and Sagarika Ghatge (of Chak De fame) had almost completed shooting for the film, except for the songs. Suddenly, mid-way, Percept Pictures, the producer, felt there was a lot of money being invested in an Emraan-starrer and weren’t sure of the returns, so stalled it. But now, after the success of The Dirty Picture, the producer feels that Emraan has a big draw at the box-office. Percept Pictures has changed Raftaar 24X7 to Play and is looking for a good time to release it. Now Emraan can vouch for the truism that slow and steady wins the race and can have the last laugh!
