Sajid-Farhad’s debut directorial venture Entertainment has passed the crucial ‘Monday’ test at the box office which is indeed impressive
Akshay Kumar’s latest offering Entertainment has turned out to be a crowd puller. The slapstick comedy which hit the theaters on Friday (August 8) got off to a decent start at the ticket windows by collecting Rs 11.16 crore nett. On day two, the figures were pretty much the same. But on Sunday the collections went up bringing the film’s total collection to Rs 36.69 crore. But what’s interesting is that Akshay-Tamannaah Bhatia starrer managed to fare well on Monday too. Usually, most films fail to make any remarkable earnings on weekdays but Khiladi Kumar’s comic caper seems to have impressed the audience big time. Well, that’s the reason why Akki’s new release minted Rs 7 crore on Monday.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “ #Entertainment has a SUPER-STRONG Monday. Fri 11.16 cr, Sat 11.53 cr, Sun 14 cr, Mon 7 cr. Total – 43.69 cr nett. India biz.” That’s not all! Akshay’s film has done well in international markets too. Adarsh wrote on Twitter, “OVERSEAS: #Entertainment opening weekend total: $ 1,392,054 [Rs 8.51 cr]. Best in UAE-GCC and Pakistan.”
Going by the figures, the whole Entertainment team has a pretty good reason to be overwhelmed. We think a success party is in the waiting.
