Filmi Friday: Ragini MMS 2, Muppets Most Wanted and Need for Speed in the theatres!

This week is going to be a delight for all the movie buffs as three Hollywood and four Bollywood films will be releasing this Friday. We give you a quick gist about all the movies so that you can make up your mind about which flick to watch before you head to the cinema halls

Ragini MMS 2: Directed by Bhushan Patel and co-produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, this film stars former Canadian pornstar Sunny Leone in the lead. This movie takes off from where its prequel Ragini MMS had left. The second installment of the horror franchise is about a filmmaker who wants to make a movie on the infamous Ragini MMS scandal.

USP: Ragini MMS 2 features the very sexy Sunny Leone who seems to be making waves in Bollywood with her bold avatar. Plus, there is a special Yo Yo Honey Singh number.

Need for Speed: Directed by Scott Waugh, this action flick stars Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper and Scott Mescudi. The story of Need for Speed revolves around a street racer who is falsely framed for a crime he never committed. After being released from the prison, he participates in a cross country race to seek revenge.

USP: The film is the adaption of the popular video game of the same name. Also, this one promises high speed antics.

Muppets Most Wanted: This comic caper has been directed by James Bobin and produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Mandeville Films. Sequel to 2011′s The Muppets, this one stars Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell and Tina Fey. An entire Muppets gang goes on an international tour but things go awry when they get embroiled in a crime caper which is headed by the most deadly gangster.

USP: The prequel did well despite being pitted against the first Breaking Dawn part and hence raising the curiosity level for the sequel.

God’s Not Dead: Harold Cronk’s directorial venture is based on the book of the same name by author Rice Broocks. Starring Willie Robertson, David AR White and Shane Harper, God’s Not Dead is about a young boy who believes in God but finds himself in tough position when his philosophy professor challenges his belief.

USP: The plot looks interesting and has already grabbed a lot of media attention overseas creating more buzz around the film.

Gang of Ghosts: Directed by Satish Kaushik, this one is a remake of Bengali film Bhooter Bhabishyat. The film stars Sharman Joshi, Mahie Gill, Meera Chopra, Anupam Kher, Jackie Shroff, Chunky Pandey and Rajpal Yadav. A haunted house is being replaced by a new shopping mall. However, the ghosts who have been staying in house consider this place as their home. What happens next is what Gang of Ghosts is all about.

USP: The ensemble star cast is impressive and this is apparently Bollywood’s first ghost comedy.

Ankhon Dekhi: Directed by Rajat Kapoor and produced by Manish Mundra, this film has Sanjay Mishra and Rajat as well in the lead roles. Ankhon Dekhi is about a man who is in his late fifties and lives in a cramped house in old Delhi with his family. But his life will change drastically after a random incident takes place.

USP: Both Sanjay Mishra and Rajat Kapoor are supremely talented and have proved their mettle time and again with their acting prowess.

Lakshmi: Talented filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor latest offering highlights the issue of human trafficking and child prostitution. Lakshmi is forced into prostitution at the tender age of 13. She is raped, beaten up yet Lakskmi finds courage to survive.

USP: This film has already won Best Film – Mercedes Benz Audience Award for Best Narrative at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on January 13, 2014 and was also screened at Toronto Reel World, Washington DC, New York Indian and Melbourne Indian Film Festivals.Subscribe to me on YouTube
