On her birthday, we look at some of PeeCee’s most versatile roles in her films

Priyanka Chopra recently stunned us all with her look in Mary Kom.

The star had received a similar response to her remarkable stint as Jhilmil Chatterjee in Barfi! PC has certainly aced the game of showcasing versatility through her varied roles, which makes her one of the finest actors in the industry today. On her birthday, we look at some of the former Miss World’s most popular characters in her films:

Mary Kom had a little glam

Mary Kom made headlines by bagging the bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics. She is in the news again, thanks to Priyanka Chopra who will be essaying the role of the ace boxer in the biopic titled Mary Kom. Ms Chopra with her bulging biceps and rugged avatar created waves in the poster of the upcoming film. Having a star like Priyanka representing the iconic boxer, we bet Mary is rejoicing in the glamorous world of B-town at the moment.

Jhilmil, a sweet tasting Barfi!

Govinda made the sweet Sonpapdi popular by calling Raveena Tondon the same in a song. Priyanka however, emerged as a Barf! still savored by many with her role as Jhilmil Chatterjee in the film of the same name. She donned a white frilly dress topped with a red sweater along with a short curly hairdo and black bellies. Her remarkable performance in the film is considered one of the best ones till date. Although the Exotic singer lost the much deserved ‘best actor Filmfare award’ to Vidya Balan last year, Priyanka is still recognised as Jhilmil and is credited for the magic she brought to the role.

Where there is a will, there is a Cabaret

Priyanka was seen as Nandita Sengupta, a cabaret dancer in Gunday which starred Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor. The hottie certainly came across as modern day Helen, thanks to her sexy moves and oomph. Playing the damsel in distress caught in between the two Gundas, PC essayed the role of a ’60s heroine perfectly. Her Cabaret dancer look showcasing the golden shimmering dress topped with a funky head gear, makes the pop sensation a pleasant sight to the sore eyes indeed.

A Roma-antic tale

The birthday girl played Roma in Don 2 opposite Shah Rukh Khan. With a motive to seek vengeance for the death of her brother, Priyanka played the angry young woman and blew off her steam with mighty kicks and martial arts. She nailed her stunts and came across as a hot toughie who can’t be messed with. We believe the hottie would bring it yet again in Mary Kom and this time with a greater intensity.

A  Fashion-ista

Meet Megha Mathur, an aspiring model who gets hit by the glitz and glam of the fashion world and loses her way in the journey. Priyanka took the glam quotient a notch higher with this role of hers in Madhur Bhadarkar’s Fashion. Looking stylish and chic, the Dil Dhadakne Do star did justice to the character of Megha and set a high standard with her intense performance.

Kaali Agneepath wali

A talkative girl who is madly in love with Vijay (Hrithik Roshan) and supports him till the very end on his quest for revenge, Priyanka made a pretty picture as Kaali in the hit film Agneepath. Coming across as dainty Indian damsel in sarees and ghagra cholis, the former Miss World gave us reasons to remember her be it her adorable stint in song Gun Guna or her performance on the whole.
