The Dhak dhak star will portray the character inspired by Sampat Lal Devi, who plays an instrumental role in fighting for women’s rights in Uttar Pradesh
Madhuri Dixit-Nene, who was seen judging the recently concluded dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa on Colors channel, is busy portraying the character inspired by Sampat Lal Devi in her forthcoming film Gulaab Gang. Written and directed by Soumik Sen, this film will narrate the story of the famous Gulabi gang- a group of 20,000 women members, vigilantes and social activists who fight widespread domestic abuse and violence against women in Uttar Pradesh.
We laid our hands on the first look poster of the film that symbolically represents what the Gulabi gang stands for. The blood-stained sickle raised by a hand speaks volumes about the zero-tolerance policy of the group against the abuse and injustice directed towards women in our patriarchal society. The founder and leader of the gang, Sampat Pal was one of the contestants on Bigg Boss 6 and now Madhuri will play the fierce lady in pink on the big screen. She has wrapped up a schedule for this film. “Done with this schedule for Gulaab Gang. On my way home,” tweeted Madhuri. Juhi Chawla too will be seen in this woman-centric drama. Going by the poster, we can say that revenge will certainly be pink this year!
