Happy Birthday, Dev Anand!

The Guide actor turns 88 today – his enduring passion for cinema is an inspiration and motivation for the young guns in Bollywood

Born Devdutt on September 26, 1923, Dev Anand was launched as a leading man opposite Kamini Kaushal in Ziddi by Ashok Kumar. Thereafter there has been no looking back for the ‘evegreen’ debonair actor, who went on to star in over 100 movies, from 1946 till now. The never-say-stop ‘young’ man is ready with his next film, Chargesheet, which will hit the screen very soon. The veteran actor-filmmaker is also known for introducing two of the most beautiful actresses to Bollywood – Zeenat Aman in Hare Rama Hare Krishna and Tina Munim in Des Pardes. He has won almost every prestigious ‘lifetime achievement’ award there is, but that has only given him the energy to do what he does best: make films. He was recently awarded the Padma Bhushan for his outstanding contribution and achievements. Today, he continues to introduce new talent to cinema and experiment with new ideas. He also heads one of the finest film sound post-production facilities in India – Anand Recording Studios – which has to its credit over 3,000 Indian feature films that have been mixed / surround mixed for worldwide release. A legend of our times and an inspiration to everyone in the film industry, that is the superstar called Dev Anand. We wish the ‘evergreen’ birthday boy a wonderful year ahead and many more to come.

Yes I`ve already read it but what I liked best is that the way had named his frdneis(trees)Janardhan; Raghunandan; Gangadhar; Jagannath; Buddhuram;Jhatpatajhatpatpat ..The last name , Jhatpatajhatpatpat ,, only kishore da can say ..great!!!but Whenever I read this interviews,Years after I read it again today,,I feel great sadness n lonelyness behind smile of this comedy king,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I don`t know kishore kumar much nor have I heard him much like I have felt Rafi sahab but,,,I don`t know why, something unantural with me whenever I read his interview I can feel a sadness under all laughters ..
