Happy birthday, Siddharth!

The cute guy-next-door made his presence felt as Karan Singhania in Rang De Basanti. And now Siddharth is gearing up for his upcoming Chashme Baddoor

Siddharth was born R Siddharth Narayan in an Iyer family in Tamil Nadu on April 17, 1979. He completed his schooling from Chennai and Delhi. After that did an MBA from the SP Jain University in Mumbai. But guess business management couldn’t keep him hooked.

At the age of 21, Sid’s ultimate dream was to direct movies. And he started off under Mani Ratnam for Tamil film, Kannathil Muthamittal (2002) in which he played the role of Munna. Four years later, he stepped into B-town with Aamir Khan’s Rang De Basanti. After RDB, Sid did a couple of more movies down south and later assisted Oscar-winning cinematographer Guillermo Navarro’s in his movie Blood Brothers (2007). The film was showcased at the Toronto International Film Festival as part of Mira Nair’s AIDS Jaago project. After that Sid took a sabbatical for 20 months and was seen in a Bollywood movie, Striker (2010). Siddharth was briefly married to Meghna between 2003-2006. Later, he dated Soha Ali Khan for a while. Moving on from Soha, he was in a relationship with Shruti Haasan and the two did a film together, Oh My Friend, that released in 2011. The actor’s upcoming movie is David Dhawan’s remake of Chashme Baddoor, slated to release this year.

But acting and directing aren’t the only to-dos on Siddharth’s list. This guy who has acted in 1o south movies and a couple of Hindi movies has been a playback singer for approximately equal number of movies in the South too! Now that’s versatile, no?

So on his birthday today we wish and hope that this actor-singer-director reaches his desired peak soon. Happy birthday, Sid!
