Has Shahid Kapoor said goodbye to Yash Raj Films?

For the time being, yes. He has opted out of the production house’s next film due to a shooting re-schedule

Shahid Kapoor could well have become the blue-eyed boy of Yash Raj Films, like Shahrukh Khan or the relative newcomer Ranveer Singh. But the Kapoor lad’s two films with the production house – Dil Bole Hadippa and Badmaash Company – did not exactly set cash registers ringing. We wonder if that could be the reason why Shahid is no longer a part of the new YRF film that he had been signed on for.

A statement from Yash Raj says that Shahid has ‘opted out’ of the Maneesh Sharma-directed project owing to a shooting delay. The schedule was supposed to start in September 2012, but has been pushed forward now. But Shahid will be booked up at the time, since his dates have been given to the other three films in his kitty – Rajkumar Santoshi’s Phata Poster Nikla Hero, Bejoy Nambiar’s new film and Prabhu Deva’s Namak.

Yash Raj maintains that the equation between the studio and Shahid remains the same and that they are discussing a new project for next year that could star the Kaminey actor. We hope that’s true, for Shahid’s sake!
