Only a few days ago SRK expressed his wish to play a negative role. Well, negative or not, he is likely to play a dark character
A little birdie tells us that Shahrukh Khan will be playing the role of a bootlegger in Rahul Dholakia’s Raees. While King Khan plays a gangster in the film, Farhan Akhtar will be playing the role of a police inspector. Raees is a period crime drama set up in the 1980s, inspired by real life incidents. That’s not all! Apart from SRK, there’s one more lead actor in the film. However, no one has been finalised yet. Well, considering SRK’s closeness to Hrithik Roshan, do you think they will team up for the film? Or will the filmmakers rope in Arjun Rampal or would they prefer a new face altogether? Dholakia says, “There are a lot of people in mind, but I still haven’t confirmed anyone. There is still a lot of time to finalise the crew.”
Dholakia talks about Farhan’s character, says, “I have taken elements from here and there to add to his character from a cop who has passed away.” He also plans to shoot the film in Gujarat. He says, “I plan to shoot the film extensively in old Ahmedabad and some parts of Saurashtra as I have spent a lot of time there.” Talking about the title of the film, Raees, Rahul says, “Farhan is a large-hearted cop. In fact both the characters are dil ke raees.”
Here’s some more goss about Raees. Reportedly, Dholakia had first taken the script to Ekta Kapoor. But she didn’t express much interest as she was busy with her own gangster flick, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara. Well, if only she’d known that Shahrukh was gonna be a part of the film, we’re sure she wouldn’t have rejected it, hai na?
