After asking the voluptuous Vidya Balan to gain weight for The Dirty Picture, director Milan Luthria has told the lean Imran to beef up for his role of a street-fighter in the gangster drama
Finally, Milan Luthria’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai sequel is gaining momentum. After Sonakshi Sinha (playing Akshay Kumar’s love interest – a character inspired by yesteryear actor Mandakini), the filmmaker has got Imran Khan on board to play a street fighter in the gangster drama. The Dirty Picture director confirmed this piece of news: “I am always excited by unusual casting and this is very unlike anything Imran has played before. It is unexpected for audiences. It’s a character with a mass appeal with great one-liners, in keeping with the first part of the franchise.”
But it isn’t going to be an easy task for the cutesy Imran to fit in the shoes of a street fighter. Luthria wants him to gain weight to look the part. While the cute Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu actor has great difficulty piling on kilos, we are sure with tips on weight management from mamujaan Aamir Khan it won’t be an impossible task. Soon after Imran returns from Chandigarh where he is shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj’s Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, he will start preparing himself for Luthria’s film.
By the way, after Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, OUATIM 2 is another film that fell into Imran’s kitty out of nowhere. The Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu actor wasn’t the original choice for either role. Bhardwaj had first signed Ajay Devgn for the rustic satire, but since he turned it down, the role was offered to Shahid Kapoor. The Mausam star too couldn’t accommodate his favourite filmmaker. Coincidentally, Luthria had also offered the street-side toughie’s role to Sasha first, but somehow the deal didn’t materialise. Eventually Imran was the only choice of star actor they could approach… We are sure Imran has now come to believe in this old adage – whatever happens, happens for the best!
