Independence Day Special: Tv Stars send Wishes

Television actors reveal what freedom and independence means for them

Stars from Star Plus – Deepika Singh, Hina Khan, Karan Mehra, Nakulul Mehta wish their fans on August 15, and spread the feeling of patriotism.

Ishita Dutta aka Poonam (Ek Ghar Banaunga)

15th August reminds me of my childhood. We would always be so excited to go for our colony’s flag hoisting. It would be like a celebration with an award ceremony in the end where I would always win something. Sharing those moments with family and friends is something which I really miss. We, in our everyday lives don’t stop to think as to what we are contributing towards this nation. Our national anthem and patriotic songs are very inspirational and they have always motivated me.

Rahul Sharma aka Akash (Ek Ghar Banaunga)

I am sure that every Indian does remember every freedom fighter who gave their lives to gift us the present India. So we now need to do something that will make them proud and things that they would want to see. I am proud to be Indian and will always be proud to be Indian. You can see how we got our freedom I think they realize how important independence was for us and how we got.

Devoleena Bhattacharjee aka Gopi (Saath Nibhana Saathiya)

As a kid, I used to wave when the flag used to be hoisted in our colony and would run to get a grab at the sweets. For me each and every day should be treated as an independence day where every person should be taking care of each other. I would always want to say that be a nice human and be helpful, be calm and be kind so that it leads to harmony and in that way it will lead to a proper country.

Mohammad Nazim aka Ahem (Saath Nibhana Saathiya)

I would only say, respect the freedom that we have got. One needs freedom of expression, freedom of thoughts. If you have anything in mind, then say it out. As to me, that’s the real freedom of an individual. India has improved a lot, but we need to do lots, so let us aim for that.

Deepika Singh aka Sandhya (Diya Aur Baati Hum)

As a kid, I used to perform on patriotic song in school during Independence Day. We would make flags in the morning and then would help our seniors to decorate the school with flowers. Doing all this gave me self-satisfaction and i am very happy that even in my show DiyaaurBaati Hum, I’m constantly associated with patriotism and serving nation in a different way. I’m sure women of rural India will get our message and will be encouraged to be more educated and independent like Sandhya who aim to become an IPS office.

Hina Khan aka Akshara (Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hain)

I feel proud that I am born in this country. This is the country of diverse culture. Our dialect, language, attire changes every 100 kms. But despite this diversity, we are ONE. I am very proud of my roots. Independence Day means a lot to me. It is a day to commemorate the martyrs who gave their lives to bring us freedom. We should feel proud to be a part of this country. As citizens, we should decide to do something good for our country, be a better human being.

Karan Mehra aka Naitik (Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hain)

I am proud to be an Indian. According to me, patriotism is a feeling which should not be restrained to August 15th and January 26th. It should be practiced beyond dates, religion and region. I salute our national leaders who gave their lives for this freedom stuggle.

Disha Parmar akaPankhuri (Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara)

Wishing all a very happy independence day; Please keep your city, country and heart clean. We have to work towards keeping our country clean. It’s not a trash can, it’s our country, and if we don’t take care of it, no one will. Go on a clean India drive – this is something very close to my heart. We need to inculcate these feelings right in school and colleges. The one thing i would do is to help clean this country up.

Nakuul Mehta aka Aditya (Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara)

Independence Day to me means the Freedom of expression and the Freedom of choice. I’m proud to be a part of Independent India as it enters its 67th year. This country has given me the freedom to express myself, which I choose to do as an actor and an entertainer. India’s growth over the years has also given me the opportunity to choose the medium I would like to work in as an actor, be it Television, by which I can make my presence felt in every Indian home, every single day, or theatre, which offers me artistic diversity. India’s growing global presence will continue to give me freedom to explore and expand my craft the world over.
