We recently saw the promo of Sony TV’s new show and were left a little perplexed
The promo of Aishwarya Sakhuja’s Main Naa Bhoolungi showcases how arranged marriages happen in India. Your parents introduce you to an eligible bachelor who earns well, is settled well in life and seems to be of good nature – a perfect man.
However, what the man is like behind closed doors in only discovered once the knot is tied and you have no escape. Main Naa Bhoolungi seems just like that. Aishwarya meets her prospective groom, Vikas Manaktala, they talk and bond over time. The first morning after the wedding, the groom stabs Aishwarya with a knife leaving her gasping for her last breath. But then, it turns out to be just a dream.
The show somehow reminded us a little about Karanvir Bohra and Sriti Jha’s Saubhagyavati Bhava. Before you start arguing that it is in no way the same story, hear us out- Saubhagyavati told the story of an overtly possessive husband who claimed to love his wife but wouldn’t blink an eyelid before beating her black and blue. In Main Naa Bhoolungi, Aishwarya marries a man who claims to be a good man but harbours dreams to kill and torture her. The only difference being, his motives may not be because he is possessive of her but something totally else.
Having said that, we shall wait to give our final verdict once the show goes on air and we know for sure, right?
