The elusive topic has not been touched by many filmmakers, but the soap opera queen seems to have a lot of trust in the script
Danish Aslam began his Bollywood journey with the Imran Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer Break Ke Baad. This time, he is back with another movie which may be brushing with controversy because of its content. The story has been scripted by London Paris New York director Anu Menon and the grapevine has it that the writer-director duo want Ekta Kapoor to produce the venture. And to their relief, Ekta has agreed to fund the film under her Balaji Motion Pictures banner.
A little birdie informed us that the story is a very contemporary take on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, with a crazy twist to it. It would not be like the recent Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela or Issaq or Ishaqzaade. On the contrary in this movie, the romance would be shown with a gay spin.
Talking to a leading daily a source informed, “Danish took an instant liking to Anu’s quirky concept and was ready to bring it onscreen. The film is likely to go on floors in May. Danish has had several meetings with the head honchos at Balaji Motion Pictures who have green-lighted the project.” Now that is something different coming from the Ekta Kapoor camp, no? The source also added, “The story revolves around two guys from warring families and a girl. One of the guys is a closet homosexual. That makes the film daringly different.”
What do we think? Well, according to us classic like Romeo and Juliet should not be changed a lot. If it does well, then they would have to deal with all the controversies due to the laws stated under IPC Section 377, and if it doesn’t do well, then we would bajao them black and blue for spoiling the essence of a classic. Hai na peeps?
