The director who was recently bestowed upon with a National award for his stirring film Shahid, spoke at a panel discussion on socially responsible film-making at the ongoing festival Celebrate Cinema organised by Subhash Ghai’s Whistling Woods International. While talking about the problems he faces as a film-maker due to the controversial content of his films, the director let slip that his next film is on Article 377.
The maker is known to be socially aware and affected by prevalent social issues which is why his next venture post CityLights can be expected to be based on the ongoing debate of Article 377 which makes criminalises homosexuality. Mehta spoke about how he is likely to face flak from the censor board for the subject matter and content of his next film.
