Ritesh Batra’s directorial debut not only impressed the Indian audience and critics, the bitter-sweet love story also grabbed attention at most international film festivals…
The Lunchbox starring Irrfan Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Nimrit Kaur won millions of hearts across globe. And the movie had the potential to win Oscar as well. But it was Gyan Correa’s The Good Road which left the Irrfan starrer behind in the Oscar race. Most industrywallahs were shocked regarding the selection including the director, producer and cast of The Lunchbox. So much so that Anurag Kashyap, who co-produced the film, vented out his anger on Twitter and later deleted his account. Though things have mellowed down, looks like Irrfan Khan is still upset. We say ‘coz in a recent interview when asked about the The Good Road beating The Lunchbox to become India’s official entry to the Oscars; he said “One should ask the jury members why they selected The Good Road. One should ask them what was so great about that film.”
Well, we understand Irrfan’s disappointment after all it’s the second time that his film hasn’t been sent to Oscars despite receiving rave reviews in india and internationally. Last year his film Paan Singh Tomar which won National Award wasn’t selected for Oscars too.
But wethinks The Lunchbox actor shouldn’t worry ‘coz with his acting prowess, we are sure he would keep delivering great films and hopefully they would not just go to Oscars but even win the prestigious award, hai na?
