Is Kapil Sharma creating hurdles for Sunil Grover aka Gutthi?

Gutthi’s character cannot be copied

When Sunil Grover aka Gutthi decided to quit Kapil Sharma‘s popular comedy show Comedy Nights with Kapil (CNWK), little did he know that he will never get to play Gutthi again! Wondering what are we talking about? Well, if the recent reports are anything to go by then producers of CNWK have decided to have copyright on the character of Gutthi before any rival channel or production house copies it. This move by the producers comes right after the reports of Sunil being offered a show by a rival channel were doing the rounds.

While the producer Viacom 18 has started looking for Sunil’s replacement, they have also published a notice in national dailies today that warns whosoever attempts to copy or be associated with the character Gutthi, legal action will be taken against that entity.

“A certain artist and a stand-up comedian associated with the programme Comedy Nights With Kapil aired on Colors television channels is planning to launch or be associated with other shows….Take notice that Viacom18 has sole, exclusive, absolute and unlimited ownership rights of all the intellectual Property rights of the Artist associated with the programme including the rights in the format of the programme.”, reads the notice.

So can we say that Kapil Sharma doesn’t want Sunil to have his own show? Also now that Sunil can’t play the role of Gutthi again, what will be his next step? Will he change the identity of Gutthi or will he step down and come back to Comedy Nights with Kapil? Well, all we can do is just wait for some more drama to unfold.
