With Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet, KJo will be making his acting debut and the filmmaker-turned actor seems to super excited about the same. In fact, he even took to Twitter and thanked Kashyap for making him an actor. But wethinks it’s a bit too soon. Read on to know why we say so…

Karan Johar is undoubtedly one of the most successful and sought after filmmakers in Bollywood at the moment. Besides charming us with his cinematic vision, the Dharma Productions head honcho has also managed to score brownie points for being a witty a host. His celebrity chat show Koffee with Karan earned the tag of being controversial as KJo is a conversationalist wizard. And now Shahruhk Khan’s former khaas dost has added one more feather to his already crowded cap. Mr Johar will now woo the audience with his acting skills. In Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film Bombay Velvet, which stars Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in the lead, Karan will be playing a baddie. While we dunno how good an actor KJo is, the talented filmmaker is pretty happy. Recently, he took to Twitter and posted, “my father thought I should be an actor… I didnt…thank you Anurag Kashyap for fulfilling my dad’s wish…just wrapped BombayVelvet!!! Awww that’s sweet, hai na?

But shouldn’t KWK host wait till his film Bombay Velvet hit the theatres? Coz we aren’t sure how Karan’s character has turned out to be and to top it all he is the villain in BV. First of all, acting is not a cake walk and then playing an out-an-out negative role in your debut film is even more challenging. And considering KJo’s personality somehow it’s hard to imagine him in a villainous avatar. Yes, he manages to get stars in trouble on his celebrity show but that’s just being smart or should we say a smooth talker. Can you visualise the happy-go-lucky and funny Karan Johar all charged up and mouthing dhasu dialogues like ‘Kutte main tujhe nahin choodunga’? Nah…right?

Well, if Karan’s role is on the lines of Shakti Kapoor’s iconic character Crime Master Gogo from Andaz Apna Apna then maybe wethinks he must have nailed it. Otherwise we’ll have wait and see Bombay Velvet before we start thanking Anurag Kashyap for turning KJo into an actor.

Coz we still remember how Farah Khan first film Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi turned out to be. Not to forget Anurag’s brother Abhinav Kashyap also pulled off a casting coup by bringing Ranbir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh together in Besharam. But again the film failed miserably at the BO.Subscribe to me on YouTube
