Is Kareena Kapoor aiming for a National Award with ‘Heroine’?

Right on the first day of the shoot, Bebo claims that her attempt will be to make this film bigger than any of the National Award-winning director’s previous outings

Kareena Kapoor is at the peak of her career, thanks to the fact that she has been a part of some of the biggest blockbusters in recent times. She is working with biggest and best names in the industry and you might think that she has it all… even a nawab to pamper her silly. Not really, as Kareena is far too ambitious to take things easy. Actually she has upped the ante by signing Madhur Bhandarkar’s film Heroine based on the big, bad world of Bollywood. Apparently the biggest reason for her to accept Heroine is that she wants to win a National Award. She has won almost all popular awards, she has topped various polls and has even made it to Madame Tussauds, London. The world is at her feet but the country’s highest recognition as an actor – the National Film Award for Best Actor – has evaded her so far; though it occupies a place of pride on her closest competition, Priyanka Chopra’s shelf. On the first day of Heroine‘s shoot, she declared in a promotional video that though she is nervous about her role, she aims to make this film a landmark one in her career. Bebo said she wants Heroine to be bigger than any of Bhandarkar’s previous films – probably hinting at Fashion, which won Piggy Chops the national honour. Wethinks this time around, Bebo will leave no stone unturned to prove to the world that she is the actual czarina of B-town.
