It’s a known fact that KJo is very fond of his Gori Teri Pyaar Mein gal and has always maintained that Bebo is his favourite lady. But now that the filmmaker is planning to sign the Cocktail babe on for a three film deal, is KKK out of the director-producer-actor’s pet people list?
As per the latest buzz, Karan Johar is eager to sign Deepika Padukone on for three films. Considering the fact that DP has delivered four back-to-back blockbuster films last year including Johar’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, we aren’t surprised. With this, reports about Ms Padukone replacing Kareena Kapoor Khan as Karan Johar’s favourite heroine have started doing the rounds. But wethinks that’s not the case at all. After all, at the end of the day, filmmaking is just a business. And if you are a producer or a director, you want to work with actors who get the cash registers ringing, no? Saif Ali Khan’s Begum may be a bankable actor, but 2013 just wasn’t her year, with Gori Tere Pyaar Mein going thud at the BO. So if Karan wants to cash in on Deepika’s success by sealing a great deal, is there is anything wrong with it? Any intelligent producer/director would do the same, hai na?
Kajol was once KJo’s favourite, but the Student of the Year director didn’t sign the dusky beauty on for every film he made – and she refused various offers, though she does still make that obligatory three-minute appearance in each KJo movie. And that didn’t change their equation personally, or even professionally. The two have remained good friends.
What we are trying to say is that professionally speaking the Dharma Productions head honcho may prefer Deepika for now, but personally Bebo will very likely always be his favourite. Why are we so sure? Well, not so long ago, in an interview Karan said, “Even though she (Kareena) may have her share of ups and downs as an actress, she will always be a movie star. You can’t take that away from her. She is born with it. Acting is in her DNA. And obviously shes a Dharma favourite.” And she will be in Shuddhi with Hrithik Roshan, one of KJo’s most ambitious projects. Do we need to say more?
